- Padlet (free 10mb files max. / 3 Padlets max.) - https://padlet.com/auth/login (set-up log-in but not edited)
- OneNote - https://www.onenote.com/hrd (set-up log-in but not edited)

- Riseup Pad (technically no sign-in, just this URL / anyone with this URL can edit / deleted after 60 days if no edits made or add ‘-keep’ to end of URL to keep for a year) - https://pad.riseup.net/p/hotmess
[have highlighted because this is a great purely text-based page that anyone can edit & can be embedded into another site & have seen a few places using it recently in light of collective activism etc. / might just be good for joint minute taking during PUBs]

- MURAL – not done yet
- DBox Paper – not done yet
- GDoc – not done yet

- HOTGLUE - https://hotmess.hotglue.me/?start/edit
[see site at: https://hotmess.hotglue.me/ > have played with for a couple of minutes - highlighted because it’s free & seems like it might be the best fit – there is a sort of simple drag & drop thing going on that feels clunky but is easy to use (I dragged an image onto the page directly from my desktop!), looks like video etc. is via embedding but I think you can upload too, not sure about file sizes etc., have added another page you access by clicking the hands image but not sure how navigation of pages etc. works – so far my favourite though!]

- BERTA (annoyingly realised even the basics you have to pay for monthly on here, I didn’t realise! / but there is the opp’ to do a free trial if we want to use it / I’ve been using it for my work but am starting to find it very limiting)
- Do we want to bother trailing any of the other web platforms, I’m already getting bored at this point, LOL.

~
PUB 3. Friday 12th June (wobble)

- Browsing a shop / cruising through islands ~ Do we want the way the site is accessed to be controlled i.e. you have to click through a few pages of words/images/content that makes you think about what the site is, creates an intended pace for viewing when you’re eventually given full access etc. / Site manual? / Front-end-Back-end (could have a RisePad embedded in for written notes)? / i.e.how guided/slick/transparent do we want everything to be?

- PLATE OF WET SHIT

- Collaborative co-authors in an incubation period

- WE CAN’T FAIL (hand in nothing but the site, as a group, co-authored with no individual identification – share the same mark for the piece overall – IN IT TOGETHER bloop bloop bloop)

- Is this our online STUDIO – that’s how we justify how it is seen

PUB 4. Sunday 28th June (action)

Next PUB: Thursday 2nd July 5.30pm
+ Morning SESS: Wednesday 1st July 10am
*added the morning sess in case PUB is inconvenient & we’ve not got a crit on Wed so seemed appropriate*

- Is HOTMESS a dead duck? Essentially, we’ve deemed no, but it’s time for us to start looking at it, using it, assessing its value as we go along. Perhaps it needs a little nurturing/curating to make it into a HOTMESS, it’s just a MESS right now & we need the sexy HOT bit.

- Limitations discussed (Harlan’s video woes), happy for alternatives to be suggested, but keep on HotGlue for now [addition – might have sorted coding issues since the meeting but still super glitchy!] as it is the easiest platform to share stuff without it looking like a template site etc.

- Structure. MORE PAGES:

As well as the ‘homepage’ that we’re all dragging & dropping onto at the moment (the HOTMESS element), there was discussion of a need for extra pages for people to fill with content individually, letting their work breathe a little & creating more depth in the site. This is not a requirement to use but I’ve set-up an individual page for everybody (see list below) if people want to play around without limits or being encroached on. Don’t worry about how this is accessed from the homepage at present (unless you want to!).

*just delete the “/edit” to access the version of your page that everyone else can see*

*for a list of all pages on site (also a link to edit any of them): https://hotmess.hotglue.me/?pages*

*at the moment all pages are named after us… I still like the idea of the site appearing authorless overall, so maybe we could change this eventually (it’s easy to rename any page at any point)… or does it not matter, people externally won’t really know who we are anyway, work is always identifiable… the HOMEPAGE might be more the authorless element etc.

- Structure. HOMEPAGE:

Having pages for individual work brings up the exploration of what the nature of the homepage is… as the HOTMESS portal? Do we want to keep dragging & dropping on there our musings at will… Do we want to start thinking about it in a more curated way?... Does everybody have their own image that you click on as a link to their work?... Is it just those images or those images surrounded by musings?... There is a way to access the edit history of pages, perhaps we could screenshot them & have a ‘history of the site’ page if we end up curating it more & getting rid of content towards the end. Just want to think more about what/where the HOTMESS is. Exquisite Corpse way of sharing information?

- Sharing. EVENTS:

Following on from this, we mentioned that we might want to set some dates in the diary (deadlines!) to get the site nearer to ‘completion’ as an active process of developing it/our work & eventually sharing it with the outside world. There were discussions of doing this actively, see below ~

PV~Private CRIT.
We could set-up a private crit (invite some tutors? Chris?) where we have the site in some sort of state that it has been worked on lots, but maybe not fully finished/ ‘curated’ yet? This could be an active session to look at individual pages/discuss the homepage/all content in general – move things around & play during it… could record the session in some way… all with a view of asking the question what do we want to share with the public when we share the site overall (maybe have a PUB with them?).

PV~Public PUB.
We could set-up an evening (Zoom or not?) PUB like we normally do as a PV; make it an open invitation (hopefully nobody will drop their balls in LOL – also limitations about how many people can join? / privacy in general? etc.) & all have a drink together & chat about the site, screenshare it etc. (I know that’s not always great for quality of work sharing etc. though but we can share the URL with people too to see the site at their own pace) as a way of exposing our conversations & developments so far apart, which is what HOTMESS was all about. Houseparty might be fun for this? Could prepare some Qs we want to explore/have a tour schedule etc. blah blah blah. Maybe we could delete the site at the end of it, ha! Maybe the PUB is a PUBLIC tour of the site & its deletion at the end ~ IF YOU WEREN’T THERE YOU MISSED IT (&/or maybe we only share the URL of the site to those attend the PV PUB?). Rambling minutes.

- Extras – do we want some writing around HOTMESS concept etc.? / If we do publicise it & have a PUB etc., whip together a flyer/event etc.? Have a flyer with URL on either way maybe? How do we preview it to others?

- DEADLINES?:

First-year hand-in is Tue 14th July (I think!)…

First draft: Ready for our PUB sometime w/c 6th July? Can make edits during PUB.

Private Crit: Wed 15th July 10am (with Chris?)? (…there’s nothing in the timetable at present?). Ready for then &/or use as another active session to curate the site ready for the Public PUB.

Public PUB (PV): Thu 16th or Fri 17th July 7-9pm? (use Zoom or something, invite people or open to all, you can control how participants are part of it on Zoom, I think (like whether their camera is on etc.) / live share the site & have a chat & a drink etc.)

Do we want it to be finished before/after hand-in?
We can of course scrap crits & pubs & just have the link ready to be shared on a certain day, keep it internal between us & Chris, or have it at that point ready to be endlessly ‘live’ marketed to nobody by the uni’ & beyond?
With these in mind, when would we need to have writing/flyer ready to be shared etc. if we need such things?

Some messy thoughts in advance (after PUB 4.5 – Wed 1st BREAKFAST_PUB):

Temporary homepage needed?
Social media?
University involvement?

PUB 5. Thursday 2nd July (decisions)

~
HOT_MESS Round-up [Mon 6th]:

- PUB:
Shall we have one this week to make final decisions? I am flexible, daytime or evenings, wine or no wine.

-----

- Prospective Deadlines:

* Website 'complete' but with room for changes & adding curatorial bits - Wed 15th July [we could have a 10am Crit about it, I don't think there's anything in the timetable at present?]

* Sharing the site - we could go live on Thu 16th or Fri 17th July?

* Do we want to have a public (but invite-only) PUB as a PV... again we could do this on Thu 16th or Fri 17th July evening? We could have a drink & screenshare the site & chat about it etc. I can manage this.

-----

- Marketing (LOL):

* If the above is a GO, do we want to circulate a 'flyer'? I've popped something together (attached) as an initial draft, if so. If yes, do we want to keep it out of reach of uni' or do you want me to pass it by them & add their logo etc.?

* If we are going all markety, do you want me to add it to the Instagram / set-up an FB etc.?

-----

- Practical Bits:

* We can keep the site free & use the HotGlue URL or I can sort out making it look more official... it might cost a few quid between participants if so.

* If we do want to have a date to go live & want to share these details in advance, I’ll set-up a temporary homepage in case people try & visit early. It just means the joint page that we edit at the moment will have a slightly different edit/preview access point!

-----

- Curator Bits:

* I don’t mind pulling it all together, writing a little piece about the show? I like the idea of all the stress balls on the site being ‘click-able’ & exposing some behind-the-scenes info’ about our process.

* I like the idea of everything being co-authored so you’re not too sure whose work is whose besides the initial list of artists… maybe that doesn’t make much sense now though? I’m up for adding bios/list of titles etc. if people like? Maybe we could do this as one of the stress balls so it is still somewhat detached from the works themselves.
